Ken Nelson has been practicing law since 1984 in a wide range of areas,
providing the versatility, flexibility and convenience of having all
matters handled in the same place.
Nelson Law Firm, P.C. is committed to
providing prompt, compassionate, high quality service which will cause
clients to return and to refer their friends.
The firm's hallmark is easy access for clients to their lawyer,
and quick response to their needs.
Brief initial consultations may be available
at no charge. Services and
representation begin after a written representation agreement letter is
signed. The letter includes
a client's bill of rights.
Flat fees are available for certain matters, and hourly rates are
available for others.
Retainers are paid in advance (like paying
for airline tickets or magazine subscriptions). Advance funds are
deposited in a trust account, and are drawn down only when earned for
work as it is done. Detailed
statements of services and costs are sent monthly.
In rare instances, contingency fee arrangements may be made,
whereby the fee is paid only from the amount recovered.

The mission is to help clients achieve their goals and dreams, prevent

responsive and cost-effective manner.
Ken is a member of the Missouri Bar, and has
been admitted to practice in Missouri state courts, the United States
District Courts for the Western District of Missouri and for the
District of Kansas, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the
First, Third, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits. Ken also
belongs to the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
Prior to beginning Nelson Law Firm, P.C., Ken
Nelson handled real estate, banking and related litigation for the
federal Resolution Trust Corporation.
He brought a background of business litigation from a
medium-sized law firm, and from Kansas City’s largest law firm.
Ken worked on criminal and civil matters as a law clerk for two
federal judges.
Ken Nelson is a 1984 graduate of the University of
Missouri - Kansas City School of Law, where he wrote and edited for the
UMKC Law Review and was the articles editor of The Urban Lawyer, a
quarterly journal published by the American Bar Association.
Before law school he was a newspaper reporter for small, medium
and large daily newspapers.
Ken graduated in 1975 from the University of Missouri - School of
Journalism with majors in newspapering and broadcasting.
